We are testing a Smartphone-based therapy program (“app”) for body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). The treatment is completed on your phone.
In our experience at our specialty BDD clinic, many people who need treatment for BDD are unable to access it, because of their location, lack of available therapists, or the costs of treatment. We hope that developing and testing this CBT for BDD app will give many more people access to treatment. We welcome you to learn more about BDD, CBT, our app, and how you can become involved in our nation-wide clinical trial, on this site.
We are currently enrolling people in our nation-wide clinical trial, to test the effectiveness of our CBT for BDD app. The phone-based treatment is 12 weeks long, and participating in the clinical trial also includes assessments of your symptoms before, during, and after the 12 week treatment. This study is open to English-speaking individuals with BDD, regardless of where you live in the United States.
To be considered for this study, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be very worried about your appearance
- Be fluent in English
- Have regular access to a computer with internet capabilities
- Have an iPhone with a data plan
